How to Start Networking Using LinkedIn
LinkedIn is such a valuable place to network and form those professional connections that might get lost in the 9-5 grind or the work-from-home hustle.
This is why I want to share how to harness the power of LinkedIn and build a supportive network that propels your professional journey forward!
These 4 things will help you create a strong and uplifting network on LinkedIn.
1. CONNECT WITH PEOPLE YOU MEET IN REAL LIFE
I know this one may seem obvious, but in order to expand your network on LinkedIn you need to make connections with people you meet in real life and virtual. Whether it's colleagues from a conference, professionals you encounter at networking events, or even acquaintances from your community.
For example, any time I am in a Zoom room with people I haven't met…I write down their names and then immediately go to LinkedIn, send them a connection request with a simple note. DON'T OVERTHINK IT.
2. FOLLOW YOUR INSPIRATION
Start following people, companies, and groups that inspire you. By following those who inspire you, you'll open yourself to new ideas, insights, and perspectives. This exposure will help broaden your horizons and introduce you to like-minded professional who share your passions and goals. You'll be amazed at the opportunities that arise when you surround yourself with inspiring individuals.
Have no Idea where to start? Find a connection that you already have that is active on LinkedIn and someone you admire and go through their connection list & look at the thought leaders they follow and let your curiosity be in charge of that follow button.
3. SHARE YOUR VOICE
No matter what stage you are at, use LinkedIn as a platform to showcase your expertise and establish yourself as a thought leader. A thought leader is just a person who has thoughts and shares them 🤯. Share articles, write thoughtful posts, and engage in conversations that align with your professional interests. Your authentic voice will attract others who resonate with your message, fostering connections and potential collaborations.
4. ENGAGE & SHARE
Active participation is key to building a supportive network on LinkedIn. Engage with others' content by liking, commenting, and sharing. Now, don't comment to comment because some BS get your numbers up social strategy. Be genuine, show support, and contribute to meaningful conversations. This will lead to creating a true sense of community.
Remember, LinkedIn is a powerful tool for building connections and expanding your professional network. Take the leap, connect with those who inspire you, and fearlessly share your voice. Your network will grow, and exciting opportunities will unfold!
Let’s connect on LinkedIn as well! I’d love to see all the amazing things you are doing on LinkedIn!
